Does anyone know why within the recent months i could no longer use MSN Messenger to talk to my contacts with yahoo acount, and how I could go about rectifying the problem?

Yes. MSN messenger is being closed out. Next month it may not work atall.
To fix it sign in to your Skype account with your Microsoft account and all your messenger contacts will follow.
